The Garden City Golf Club to host the Carr Mara Tournament in 2021

As its 125th anniversary approaches in 2024, The Garden City Golf Club has been invited to host the Carr Mara Tournament in 2021, for which its membership is genuinely excited and already preparing.
Founded in 1899, The Garden City Golf Club is widely acclaimed for its significant role in the formation and history of American golf, having hosted the 1902 U.S. Open Championship, the 1924 Walker Cup and the U.S. Amateur Championship in 1900, 1908, 1913 and 1936.
The golf course was originally designed by Devereux Emmet, a pioneering American golf course architect of Irish descent, and then enhanced by Australian-born Walter Travis, a famous competitive American amateur golfer and golf course architect.
According to renowned golf course architect, Tom Doak, who recently completed the restoration of the 120 year old golf course, "The Garden City Golf Club is not just an historic golf course going back to the U.S. Amateurs played more than a hundred years ago. It is not just a club with a unique atmosphere, though I've never been in a club that felt like this, where the history is so palpable. But it's the golf course that is really special."
The Garden City Golf Club is home to the annual Walter J. Travis Invitational, which is the oldest pure invitational tournament in the United States and one of the most prestigious U.S. amateur tournaments. We are honoured to accept their offer of hosting during this very auspicious time for them.
